Font - Setting the scene, the central desk in the office was created as an after thought. Just in front of several offices. It was free standing, meaning it was set in the middle of the room no where near any power sources. Big Boss did think to run a power cable/extension cord from an outlet on a wall to the desk before final drawers were installed and it was held securely in place along the tiled floor with duck tape.

Font - What occurred next was 6+ years after that cord was installed. And wouldn't you know it, running over an extension cord with wheeled desk chairs, steel toed boots, stacking heavy boxes and dropping all manner of items on it, the cord gave up the ghost and stopped working.

Font - This was also around the time the office helper started. He is the one that noticed the problem in the first place and reported it to our Kevina, the self proclaimed Office Mananger.
  • 04
Font - Unable and unwilling to take on the task herself, she pulls a third party into this. Who so happens to be my SO. Kevina explains that Office Helper has found this issue and she had to ask SO to help because Office Helper could not communicate it well enough.
  • 05
Font - Another classic power play by Kevina to keep herself involved instead of just telling Office Helper to ask SO for help directly. Office Helper could communicate just fine, in no less than 3 languages as previously mentioned.

Font - SO confirms that the power outlet is behind a set of drawers and cabinets that cannot be moved without destroying them and the cable runs from underneath these units. He suggests going to the local hardware store to get another extension cord and it can be run from a different outlet. And he promptly returns to his own work.

Font - After an hour or so passes. Kevina approaches SO again. To ask what the issue is and why can't the existing cable be repaired. Apparently SO wasn't clear enough. So he explains again, that the cable can't be changed out. Hardware store. Power cable. Run it to different outlet.

Font - Kevina then huffs at him, "I don't understand why you can't just fix it." Fix a live cable....... SO explains again that the cable can't be unplugged to repair it and he's not about to mess around with some frayed wires. He's not an electrician, or foolish. The steps are Hardware store. Power cable. Run it to different outlet. The drive would only be 5-7 mins max. SO walks away again.

Font - But Kevina was not to be deterred and finds him about hour later. Ever the optimist it seems, Kevina says "Well when my phone charger cable looked like that I just mushed the wires back in and taped it! It worked fine. Can't you just to that?!"

Font - Suppressing an eye twitch, SO reiterates, Hardware store. Power cable. Run it to different outlet. But if she was really up for it, to jam those wires in herself and call him from the ambulance.

Font - At this point it has been over 2 hours since the issue was discovered and the main office computer, her computer, has not had any power. She finally relents and goes to the dollar store for a cable.
  • 12
Font - Upon her triumphant return with a power cord, a Mountain dew, and a box of milk duds, she has some new found gusto... and decides to clean the computer while they're at it.

Rectangle - ManofGod1000 D, I am disappointed, I was sure she would get shocked and have a trip in an ambulance, oh well.

Product - 'Well when my phone charger cable looked like that I just mushed the wires back in and taped it! It worked fine. Can't you just do that?!'
